Do you yell during games?
Most of us do. We compete with parents, other players, traffic, other games, and much more, so we yell instructions as loud as we can in the hopes our players hear and understand…
I have news. They don’t. Yelling is just yelling and they cannot understand what we say. Besides, we are dividing their attention and science says we cannot multitask. Oh, did I mention you are breaking flow? That too.
So what should you do during games to help your players?
First, stop “joystick coaching” and let them play. Secondly, use the 100-10-1 Rule to communicate during games. Listen in to my latest podcast to understand what yelling does and what the 100-10-1 Rule is. Say less, and say it more effectively.
